Description
On 4 August 2020, a sudden and devastating explosion occurred at the port of Beirut, Lebanon, resulting in more than one hundred fatalities, thousands of injuries and leaving more than 300,000 people homeless. Show your support by helping Scouts in Beirut continue with the ongoing relief efforts!
After the explosion, the Scout Federation of Lebanon immediately issued a message to all Scouts in the country, requesting prompt intervention to assist in recovery efforts, including transporting the wounded, donating blood, accommodating families in need, and helping repair damages in downtown Beirut. More than 5,000 Scouts and 500 Adult Leaders responded to the call to action the morning after the incident.
On social media, Lebanese Scouts could be seen offering first aid, shelter, food and water to those in need. Scouts collected food donations and setup outdoor cooking stations to prepare zatar, sandwiches and other food for volunteers and people in need. Some members have been helping search for missing people under the rubble. Although they have provided great and timely support, help is still needed.
