Campfire Ashes Tins

Scouting has many traditions. One of my favourite is Campfire Ashes taken from a previous campfire ceremony are sprinkled into the flames of the next campfire.

Legend has it, the founder of Scouting, Lord Robert Baden-Powell wanted Scouts and Scouters to have a tangible reminder that they are part of a brotherhood of Scouts and Scouters enjoying the warmth of campfires from around the world.

As the Scouting movement grew, Baden-Powell was invited to campfires wherever he went. He carried a small sample of the ashes from his last campfire to the new one. He would add those ashes to the next fire and tell of the linage and the Scouts and Scouters who had shared the earlier fires with him.

These tins have been specially laser engraved by a fellow Scouter, exclusively for sale on Baloo’s Badge Bin. A perfect pocket size container for storing and transporting your ashes from one campfire to the next.

The 25th World Scout Jamboree will be held in 2023 in Korea. Korea will be hosting for the second time, the first being back in 1991. Baloo’s Badge Bin is excited to have four WSJ23 badges available. On 4 August 2020, a sudden and devastating explosion occurred at the port of Beirut, Lebanon, resulting in more than one hundred fatalities, thousands of injuries and leaving more than 300,000 people homeless. Show your support by helping Scouts in Beirut continue with the ongoing relief efforts!

After the explosion, the Scout Federation of Lebanon immediately issued a message to all Scouts in the country, requesting prompt intervention to assist in recovery efforts, including transporting the wounded, donating blood, accommodating families in need, and helping repair damages in downtown Beirut. More than 5,000 Scouts and 500 Adult Leaders responded to the call to action the morning after the incident.

On social media, Lebanese Scouts could be seen offering first aid, shelter, food and water to those in need. Scouts collected food donations and setup outdoor cooking stations to prepare zatar, sandwiches and other food for volunteers and people in need. Some members have been helping search for missing people under the rubble. Although they have provided great and timely support, help is still needed.

The proceeds of this badge will be donated through the World Scout Foundation to the Lebanese Scout Federation.
